Radio Modem (one way)

Eric's Radio Modem looks very interesting. I would like to do something similar. I plan to put my receive computer inside the radio and have it drive a set of LEDs. See also WhereAVR.

I should perhaps start with a small morse code transmitter based on the FM Transmitter Board from SparkFun.

My goal is to have information from my hardwired computers available anywhere in the house without having to boot the laptop. Probably a time/temperature/headlines service with the occasional personal message thrown in.

Utah County Packet

According to an old UCARES document there are two systems on 145.03 in Utah County. WEST on West Mountain (WA7FFM) and UCARES at Camp Williams (KC7LOT).

"...Utah County ARES members are encouraged to leave their packet stations on the air and set to this frequency with the digipeater feature enabled. This provides a tremendous resource."

Consult Google (try 'View as HTML' if you can't get the page).
