WOSP work continues

After a long break I'm looking at WOSP again. I'd like to finish this project so I can move on to other (radio-type) things. I'm going to make the switches be the base of the programmer. I'll add sides and a backboard, then mount the circuit boards on the backboard. The Mega8 will be the main processor, but it will use the Tiny2313 to run the switch bank and the LED output section. The Mega8 will also be connected to the USB port. I'll have to add another chip to drive the switch bank. The Tiny2313 will send a reset, then clock 8 bits out, reading 8 bits back in from the switches. So the switch driver will turn each switched line on in turn and the Tiny2313 will capture the switch setting. It will have to interleave all this with driving the LED array and communicating with the Mega8. I'll start by programming the EEPROM on the 2313 and adding a 'RUN MODE', where it will cycle through the 64 bits...You program in each step and then what you see is what you get. A second application would be to make a CA that would interpret the EEPROM contents... Maybe I should just skip the Mega8 and the USB link for now. All this could be done just on the 2313 chip. Part of the problem is that I wired the 2313 up to the LED array and then found that I had used the Serial IO pins. If I could do it again I would keep those free and use something else to drive the LEDs. I really need to get to where I can get my own PC boards fabbed. ... Link |
